Storage Racks is one of the most common types of racking system for warehouses. It has the lowest storage capacity of pallet and also has the lowest cost per square meter when it comes to racking. However, when it comes to high volume storage that is greater than 3000 pallets, it is often considered to be the most expensive solution.
Pallet racking is simply one pallet deep and has a maximum of two racks that is placed back to back. Selective pallet racking will allow for a direct access in every racks storage. For product lines that have high differentiation and low turnover, this type of racking is really a must. The selective racking therefore is a First in First Out racking system type. This means that the stock which is added first is also the one that is first removed from the pack in contrast to the last in last out system. This means that all the pallets are inaccessible until all of the newer stock will be removed. The First In First Out method will ensure that perishable products or those with short shelf like are being turned over effectively.
